CARANA awarded contract to help Macedonia improve its competitive
position within global markets
Arlington, Virginia, July 17, 2007 — CARANA is pleased to announce
that the U.S. Agency
for International Development (USAID) has awarded the firm the Macedonia
Competitiveness for the 21st Century Project. This is an important
activity that will help to solidify USAID’s legacy for transformational
development and diplomacy in Macedonia.
CARANA and its consortium of U.S. and local firms will provide technical
assistance in improving business practices, introducing new technologies,
developing workforce skills, establishing business advocacy organizations,
and improving access to capital. To accomplish USAID’s goals, CARANA
will work to inject new dynamism into the private sector; promote modernizing
firms and supply chains in high potential, export-oriented industries;
and address structural issues limiting firms’ ability to grow and flourish.
